Deer Lake Summer Resident Camp 2016

Pack 22 encourage all to attend the Cub Scout Summer Resident Camp at Deer Lake in Killingworth, CT (~1 hours drive from Wilton).

Deer Lake is a beautiful, farm-like facility about an hour's drive from Wilton specifically designed with the young camper in mind.  You will camp in comfortable open-sided lean-tos in private camping areas and enjoy shower blocks and a central dining hall.  So it's certainly not bare-bones camping by any means!  Quite comfortable actually, the perfect place for an introduction to the great outdoors for cub scouts.

There are several sessions available at the camp (from mid July through mid August).

Session 1: Fri, Jul 15 -> Sun, Jul 7 (2 nights stay) - Family Weekend
Session 2: Mon, Jul 18 -> Thu, Jul 21 (3 nights stay) - Webelos only
Session 3: Sat, Jul 23 -> Tue, Jul 26 (3 nights stay) - Cub Scouts and Webelos
Session 4: Thu, Jul 28 -> Sun, Jul 31 (3 nights stay) - Cub Scouts and Webelos
Session 5: Mon, Aug 1 -> Thu, Aug 4 (3 nights stay) - Webelos only

The first of these is the "Family Weekend" and is open to any and all members of a family that has at least one cub scout.  All family members (siblings, parents, etc.) are welcome.  Sessions 2 & 5 are restricted to only Webelos and sessions 3 & 4 are open to any ranks (Tiger - Webelos).

Deer Lake isn't just about camping though, it's about doing things.  It's an especially great camp for rising Webelos (current Bears) and Webelos 1s since it offers the chance to complete several of the core Webelos requirements including Engineer and Outdoorsman.  Attending the camp will give your Webelos scout a real head start on their way to earning the Arrow of Light.  The camp isn't just for Webelos and Bears though, any cub scout can attend and enjoy the activities.  We have had Tigers and Wolves in attendance in previous years and they have had a great time.

Activities include:
  • Archery, BB Gun shooting
  • Sports
  • Swimming, boating, fishing, hiking (day/night)
  • Arts & crafts
  • Earning activity badges & belt loops
  • Campfires, skits, songs, fun & games
Every year there is an overarching theme for the camp and this time it's all about Super Heroes.  So expect lots of costumes and fun!
