  • Deer Lake Summer Resident Camp 2016
Pack 22 encourage all to attend the Cub Scout Summer Resident Camp at Deer Lake in Killingworth, CT (~1 hours drive from Wilton).

Deer Lake is a beautiful, farm-like facility about an hour's drive from Wilton specifically designed with the young camper in mind.  You will camp in comfortable open-sided lean-tos in private camping areas and enjoy shower blocks and a central dining hall.  So it's certainly not bare-bones camping by any means!  Quite comfortable actually, the perfect place for an introduction to the great outdoors for cub scouts.

There are several sessions available at the camp (from mid July through mid August).

Session 1: Fri, Jul 15 -> Sun, Jul 7 (2 nights stay) - Family Weekend
Session 2: Mon, Jul 18 -> Thu, Jul 21 (3 nights stay) - Webelos only
Session 3: Sat, Jul 23 -> Tue, Jul 26 (3 nights stay) - Cub Scouts and Webelos
Session 4: Thu, Jul 28 -> Sun, Jul 31 (3 nights stay) - Cub Scouts and Webelos
Session 5: Mon, Aug 1 -> Thu, Aug 4 (3 nights stay) - Webelos only

The first of these is the "Family Weekend" and is open to any and all members of a family that has at least one cub scout.  All family members (siblings, parents, etc.) are welcome.  Sessions 2 & 5 are restricted to only Webelos and sessions 3 & 4 are open to any ranks (Tiger - Webelos).

Deer Lake isn't just about camping though, it's about doing things.  It's an especially great camp for rising Webelos (current Bears) and Webelos 1s since it offers the chance to complete several of the core Webelos requirements including Engineer and Outdoorsman.  Attending the camp will give your Webelos scout a real head start on their way to earning the Arrow of Light.  The camp isn't just for Webelos and Bears though, any cub scout can attend and enjoy the activities.  We have had Tigers and Wolves in attendance in previous years and they have had a great time.

    Activities include:
    • Archery, BB Gun shooting
    • Sports
    • Swimming, boating, fishing, hiking (day/night)
    • Arts & crafts
    • Earning activity badges & belt loops
    • Campfires, skits, songs, fun & games
Every year there is an overarching theme for the camp and this time it's all about Super Heroes.  So expect lots of costumes and fun!

Full details can be found on the CT Yankee Council's website here:  https://www.ctyankee.org/camping/residentcamp/cubscout

Be sure to check out the attached brochures and also this video that presents the camp:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4a-YoLN7Sw

If you are interested in attending then please reply to me (alan@alandavies.org) soon.

  • Wilton Cub Scout Pack 22 Plan Annual Fishing Derby for Saturday, April 30th

Wilton, CT.  Wilton Cub Scout Pack 22 will host its annual Spring Fishing Derby at the Wilton Family YMCA Pond on Saturday, April 30th.  The Derby is open to all ages and abilities, and no fishing license needed to participate.  The Pack will stock the Kiwanis Pond with more than 200 rainbow and brook trout to maximize each participant’s chances of catching a fish.  This is a great event – whether you want introduce your kids (or you) to fishing for the first time, or you have many fishing seasons under your belt but love the challenge of catching these trout.

Cub Scout Pack 22 volunteer Lars Cherichetti remarks, “Pack 22 invests thousands into this opportunity for the community each year.  It is just such a great way for families to enjoy a day outside pursuing a Connecticut right of spring…catching trout with rod and reel.”

Please bring you own equipment (rod, reel & tackle).  No worries if you don’t have your own fishing rod yet, Trout Unlimited will provide a limited number of rods to borrow during the event.

Catch one of the monstrous tagged trout and win a fishing rod, landing net, or other prize.  There will be five tagged fish lurking in the pond.  Catch a one of these lunkers and take home a prize.

The bait and lure fishing portion of the Derby will be held from 7:00AM to 5:00PM, and a special fly fishing portion from 5:00PM-6:00PM.   Bait will be available to purchase at the Fishing Derby. We will also be offering some healthy snacks and beverages for sale.

The event will be held rain or shine.  Come to the entrance to the pond at the Wilton Family YMCA on Danbury Road.  Admissions for participants ages 6 and under is FREE, ages 7 to 18 is $8, and adults $12.   We are also offering a family rate of $25.  Pay once and come and go all day.

We hope you come and fill your creel, and don’t forget to post a picture of that first fish and a smile!

Pack 22 expresses its sincere thanks to Trout Unlimited and the Wilton Family YMCA for their enthusiasm and support.

    Stocking the pond!

Den 4 - Webelos 1 | Den 3 - Webelos 2 | Training

Welcome to the official site of Cub Scout Pack 22 in Wilton, CT.  The Pack consists of about 50 boys in grades 1 through 5, and meets once a month (on the third Thursday of the month) at Hope Church (240 Wolfpit Road, Wilton).

During the month, smaller "dens" comprised of ~8-10 boys meet separately.  These Dens are organized according to age: Tiger Cubs (1st graders), Wolves (2nd graders), Bears (3rd graders), and Webelos I and II (4th and 5th graders, respectively).  Den meetings focus on doing age specific activities and earning advancement and awards through field trips, hands-on projects, etc.  We really have a great time, and we hope you'll join us.

The Pack conducts a wide variety of exciting activities year round, including the traditional Pinewood Derby and Blue & Gold Banquet, as well as hikes, campouts, picnics, trips and community service projects.
